What's New
Winter 2012
OK, I admit it. Our "What's New?" has gotten pretty old! I'm sure most everyone understands how busy it gets over the holidays and how not everything on the to do list gets to being done. It's a new year and I'll resolve to update more frequently!

We started our New Year with a big sale. Here are some of the fun group of shoppers who took advantage of the extra discount offered to those who came in pajamas. I'm holding the balloons and though you can't tell I'm wearing a swim suit underneath. I actually took off mid day to do the New Year's Polar Bear Plunge in Puget Sound. Mighty chilly I'm here to tell you. It was good to come back to the nice cozy store.
Speaking of cozy many of the Friendship Star quilters in this photo also worked on a beautiful quilt which they donated to the Linus Project. We are an island collection station for donations. And there is an event planned on Tues. Jan. 21st to make things even more cozy for kids in need. We are hosting space for the Million Pillow Case challenge from 10am-2pm. Come with material to sew a pillow case or two. We'll also have discounted pillow case kits if you want to use one of those.

If a Trip Around the World is not in your budget this year you can pick up a passport here at Quilting By The Sea and join us for a 6 month Fat Quarter journey. The passport costs $5 and entitles you to a designated free fat quarter each month for 6 months. Not a bad deal! Each month features a different part of the globe. Our February port of call is Indonesia. If you have a Quilting By The Sea Passport by sure to stop by and collect your lovely BATIK fat quarter. Our passports are still available for those who want to join us on the journey. See store for details.

If you would like a home based project we have the Whidbey Island wall hanging for sale seen here and designed by yours truly. And speaking of local we're proud to feature titles by author M'Liss Rae Hawley including her new "Precut Quilts". M'Liss is nationally known but lives right here on Whidbey so we were happy to host a book signing recently and spend some time with her and her adorable dog Vivienne. We're looking forward to more visits and fun events this year so stay tuned!
Cheers! Laurie
